At Empower Foundation, fostering opportunities for women’s empowerment is a core mission that drives our initiatives. We recently celebrated a significant achievement – the successful graduation of 65 women from our Threads of Empowerment Tailoring Course at Zaytun 1 and Zaytun 2.
Threads of Empowerment is an ongoing program initiated by Empower Foundation to provide free tailoring training to women in underprivileged communities. This training equips them with valuable skills for achieving financial independence, enabling them to contribute economically to their households and communities.
Led by expert seamstresses, our 6-month beginner-to-advanced course imparts comprehensive garment construction skills. From basics like accurate measurements to advanced techniques in pattern drafting and sewing machine mastery, participants receive hands-on training essential for establishing successful careers in tailoring.
Graduation ceremonies were held at Zaytun 1 and 2 for the fourth batch of this program, honoring the achievements of 65 successful women. Students were awarded certificates and sewing machines to facilitate their entrepreneurial journeys.
“Learning this new skill is life-changing for me. It allows me to earn money and make life easier for my family. As a woman, I am extremely proud to learn a skill that I can use to stand on my own feet. I feel independent and empowered.“ – Hafsa, Tailoring Course Graduate.
This recent graduation brings the total number of graduates to 260 across all batches. In a world where economic stability translates to strength, providing avenues for women to acquire vocational skills becomes imperative for nurturing resilient, self-sufficient communities. We are proud to launch an initiative that not only enhances financial autonomy for women, but also enables them to become catalysts for change within their families, inspiring future generations.
